It helps that I can’t stand Tom Jones. My niece showed it to us a few summers ago. I showed my gratitude by giving her a CD of the guy’s original playlist (7 WNP, 1 INU, 14 WNP, if I remember correctly). She took it to college with her the following year and reports having used it twice to great effect. ---

I went into an arcade when I was young, and they had some newfangled pseudo-jukebox system installed. I put in my money, and then somehow proceeded to select “Walkabout” by Red Hot Chili Peppers four times… I don’t know how annoying it was, as I left as soon as I heard the song start its second go-round. Quite embarrassing, and a terrible waste of money on my part. I’ve waited a number of years to finally get that off my chest. 😃 ---

This probably won’t work in a jukebox, at least not one in 99.99% of the USA. Back in the late 80s when I worked an office job in a cube farm many people had portable AM/FM + cassette or CD players. Most folks would play quietly or with headphones, but some folks just didn’t get the idea that they weren’t the only snowflake in the blizzard. After reason failed, it was time to fight fire with overwhelming fire. I found a CD of Chinese Opera. That my friends, is the nuclear weapon of music wars. ---

All Around the World by Lisa Stansfield. I remember one horrid night of a cram session finishing up lab reports in my notebook for Analytical Chemistry. I and another student set up in the television lounge in our dorm and turned on the cheesy pay-to-play video music channel on the lounge tv. And some s.o.b. must have paid a small fortune to them to play this same video over and over again. All. Night. We once plugged in five plays of “Big Bad John” at a pizza joint in junior high school, but about halfway through the third play an employee came out and unplugged it. Can’t say that I blame him in retrospect. ---
