ISTM [_Afternoon Delight_](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NUkhMq_iRo) by one-hit wonder Starland Vocal Band would be pretty hard to take after about the 4th repeat. 😃 From [wiki](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afternoon_Delight) I learned that somebody did a country/western cover during the original’s heyday. :eek: It too charted. I wonder how much he paid for the rights? Interesting. The way I was told an old-fashioned juke box works would prevent multiple plays. Selecting B-17 for example raises a detent pin at row B position 17. When the control reader passes over it, it plays that song and resets the pin. If you select the same song repeatedly, it sets the pin on the first one and the rest set the pin that is already set, so when the control reader hits it, it plays. Once. :smack: It also means that songs do not necessarily play in the order selected. :dubious: You all must have been using an updated version with electronic selectors and some sort of memory holding the requests. ---

I’ll play. “Spirit In The Sky,” Norman Greenbaum. I hate this song with a passion and it was in every jukebox at every dive I went to. “One Tin Soldier” pales in comparison. ---

I must have been a pre-teen at the time, but I remember my family going out to this ‘bar and grill’ type restaurant with my parents friends and their teenaged kids. One St. Patrick’s Day long ago, somewhere in D.C., I walked into a random bar filled with paper leprechauns and green beer. Righteous indignation overcame me as I decided I’d been subjected to enough crappy bar theme nights. I slid a $5 bill into the jukebox, set it to play 24 consecutive “MacNamara’s Bands” by Bing Crosby, walked back out, and came back a few hours later to find they’d unplugged it for some reason. ---
