# Most babies at once?

There is a joke Comcast commerical where a couple has 22 babies at once. This got me wondering what the record is. So how many babies born at once is the record? Is it acceptable to refer to human babies as a litter?

No cites, but I seem to remember 9 at once was the most.

According to [www.guinnessworldrecords.com](http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com) the greatest number of “fetuses in a human body” was 15 (10 girls, 5 boys). None of them survived, being aborted in their fourth month in July 1971.

The greatest number of surviving children from a single birth (same source) is seven (four boys, three girls) born in Iowa in 1997. Another set of surviving septuplets (four boys, three girls) was born in Saudi Arabia in 1998.
