I wish I could remember which recent thread led me to the pitch drop experiment webcam, but this is the most boring webcam I can conceive of. It is, literally, watching dried tar drip, at a rate of about one drop per _nine years_. Here is the [wiki page](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitch_drop_experiment) describing the experiment, which is about the viscosity of apparent solids. I suggest bookmarking and keeping an eye on it, as the next drop should be in the next 1-2 years. Got anything to beat this? ---

About 10 years ago there was one that was inside someone’s fridge. It was dark all the time unless you happened to have it on when someone opened the door. ---

Since learning of that, I’ve been awaiting my next chance to swap “Watching pitch drop” for “watching paint dry” in conversation… Somebody posted an eagle’s nest cam recently. I’m sure it is fantastic when they’re around and being cute (or regal or whatever they do). I clicked on it last night and it was just a flickering black screen with thrashing wind and crickets. I guess most webcams are hit and miss anyway though. ---

I once came across a site where someone had set up a bunch of webcams trying to catch a ghost in his house. They showed things like the basement and the inside of closets; one was even under his bed. Not much action there. But, if you really want to find a boring webcam, [I’d suggest looking through some of these](http://www.earthcam.com/). ---

I can’t find it right now, but there’s a web cam in an attic of a house that’s supposed to be haunted. All you see is the roof framing and that’s about it. What’s hilarious, though, are the comments.
