The most clueless depiction of hippies of all time – even worse than the [_South Park_](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_Hippie,_Die) episode you were thinking of – has got to be [this](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0620286/) _King of the Hill_ episode. Hank Hill must die. By some means extremely painful, lingering, and humorous, preferably involving propane and propane accessories. ---

Or rather, was it a depiction of depictions of hippies? In other words, was the show presupposing that’s what hippies are really like? Or was it presupposing that’s what people think hippies are like? ---
