Inspired by [Bearflag’s post](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=11207246&postcount=34) in the thread about the [topless breakfast place in Maine](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=11207893&posted=1#post11207893). Bearflag’s post was a link to a [picture of the cast](http://www.sitcomsonline.com/photopost/data/702/alice8.jpg) of the late unlamented TV sitcom _Alice_. And I realized that is one group of pretty damn unattractive people for TV, though maybe pretty normal by real life standards. It got me to thinking what other TV series had casts totally lacking in eye candy. And I couldn’t come up with any. ---

Julia Louis Dreyfuss is very pretty, but Seinfeld, Alexander, and Richards are all average to ugly, as were the majority of the supporting cast. ---

I think a lot of 70’s/80’s shows may be the same way. Take for example The Odd Couple, Maude, All in the Family just to name a few. ---

For current day shows, it’s harder, but how about the Sopranos? A lot of people who are either average to below, not a lot of svelte bodies (esp. after Adriana got the axe). ---

Wasn’t Struthers kind of a hottie before she chunked out? And _Maude_ had Adrienne Barbeau, who was definitely a hottie. I will grant you _The Odd Couple_, I think, though I remember they had semi-regular girlfriends. I just don’t remember a hotness factor for them. ---

Sanford and Son didn’t have any lookers. Grady? :shudder: Seinfeld was my very first thought when reading the thread title. Kramer, George, Jerry, Jerry and George’s parents? The only regular cast member that is actually attractive was Elaine. ---

_Roseanne_, perhaps? Sarah Chalke (Becky II) is the only one generally considered to be “hot.” (And no, George Clooney was not hot when he was on.) ---

Elaine was absolutely eye candy. Maybe even Jerry, though he always struck me as a little squinty. Not Gilbert Gottfried squinty, but squinty nonetheless. ---

Shirley Feeney was hot in a spunky, Mattie Ross kinda way. Unfortunately, she did not “vodeo-doe-doe”, which lead to Carmine becoming a serial killer later in life. ---

Between Grady and Aunt Esther (remember half the show’s schtick was Fred telling her how ugly she was), if the judging is “cumulative” then they’re off to an almost insurmountable lead. ---

It’s _Barney Miller_, y’all. Hands down. I love that show, but between them Abe Vigoda and Jack Soo could have sunk the _Bismarck_.
