Yeah, but how many actors appear in dozens of films and never get that sort of recognition? Most of them would sell their left kidney for that kind of fame. That scene was memorable because it was a damned good scene in a damned good movie. It was powerful and disturbing and beilliantly acted, and that is why it is so memorable. What would be humiliating is if the scene had sucked, and people had laughed at it, and the whole thing was universally panned, and it was still the most memorable thing Beatty had ever done. Being remembered for being in one of the most famous and lauded scenes in cinematic history has got to be the very antithesis of “humiliating.”
