Most delusional thing artists say about their work

Oh, yes! I remember that one. It made the rounds on one of the email lists I was on back in the 90s. He wrote it with his son, as I recall (the son was a teenager). I tried to read it…but…yeah. Ugh. I think I made it through the first chapter before giving up in disgust.

There are many good examples here, but I promise you, if you hang around mediocre musicians you will eventually hear somebody compare their work to Stravinski’s Rite of Spring. It’s the ultimate way to explain why everybody thinks your music sucks ass without admiting that your music actually sucks ass. It’s also a complete missunderstanding of what happened when The Rite of Spring debuted . Music critics almost universaly loved it.
