# Most embarrassing admission of ignorance?

I have a ton of stories, most about a friend who shall remain nameless 🙂

I remember one time my friends and I were watching the movie [Half-Baked](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120693/) being silly and commenting about everything we found amusing.

In one scene one of the guys meets this girl, and when asked her name she replies: “Mary Jane”. In case you haven’t seen the movie, it’s all about a bunch of stoners and just about everything is a reference to drugs. So as soon as she said her name we all cracked up, but we noticed that our friend took a while to start to laugh so someone asked him if he knew why we were laughing and he said: “Yeah of course! Spider-man’s girlfriend!”.

It was the first time I squirted soda out my nose 🙂

In microbial ecology class a few years ago, the professor talked about how scientists are experimenting with technology that sucks carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and then stores it in wells deep in the ocean. I was half-asleep when she said this but then perked right up.

I raised my hand and cried out real loud: “They’re pumping gas into _whales_”?! I was imagining big bloated whales with huge injection needles sticking out of them. The image was horrible.

The whole class exploded in laughter and I quickly realized that I was retarded.
