Most evil character in movies..

Compared to Sadako from the original Ring, Samara’s second-rate evil.

In the original, Sadako could kill people outright just with a thought while she was alive. Also, the way to remove the curse was different: you had to not only copy the tape, but show it to someone else. It’s like the pyramid scheme of deadly curses.

The lead nun in The Magdalene Sisters was a little cartoony, but she was pretty chilling.

Oh, and the Mountain Men from Deliverance.

Ben Kingsley in “Sexy Beast”. Now THERE’S as reprehensible a human being as you’ll ever find.

Also, Robert Mitchum in “Night of the Hunter”. Eeew. He’s a bad man.

Inspector Javere (I have no idea how to spell that - sounds like Zja-vair) as played by Geoffrey Rush in the movie version of Les Mis.

Although I guess he wasn’t diabolically EVIL or anything, but the way Rush played the character made him absolutely reprehensible.

Also Sejanus in I, Claudius, brilliantly played (IMHO) by Patrick Stewart.

C’mon! Doesn’t anyone have any feelings for this guy? Maybe the newer movies have whussified him a bit, but back when (before the newer crop of movies), this guy personified cool evil.

“Apology accepted, Captain Needa.” Hoo Lordy! Don’t get much more evil than that. Who isn’t waiting for the punk to get his butt whupped just so we can see the baddest Man-In-Black ever?

Forget the psycho’s. They know not what they do, what with the bad head-wiring and all. And supernatural evil, while certainly kinda scary, just don’t do much for me.

The girl’s father in Priest scared me more than any other villain in any film I’ve ever seen.

Whoops, I’m an idiot, the thread is titled ‘‘Most evil character in movies …’’ and *I, Claudius * was televised. Sejanus was still pretty darn evil, though.

Terminus Est:

Yes you can…in South Park: Bigget, Longer and Uncut, Saddam Hussein is quite clearly more evil than Satan.

As for the OP, though, I’d vote for the Wicked Witch of the West from Wizard of Oz.

Gotta go with King Edward I from Braveheart:

“Excuse me, Sire! Won’t the arrows hit our own troops?”
“Yes…but we’ll hit theirs, as well!”

Iago (from Othello) is evil, all right… flat, but evil. So evil he doesn’t tell the world why he’s so evil.

I guess that’s evil.

Dark Helmet was pretty evil, too. “What?!? You went over my helmet?!?”
