One goof that always stuck with me is in " The posideon adventure " When They go through the boiler / Engine room you can see a " dead " crewman moving his arm around. Also During the scene where they pick up the X-mas tree , You here Gene Hackman say " Oh fuck , this is heavy" I realy dont think he was supposed to say it.

Oh yeah if you want a whole list of them try [www.slipups.com](http://www.slipups.com)

For those who are curious, here’s the Scarecrow’s take on the Pythagorean theorem:

## quote:

## The sum of the square roots of any two sides of an isosceles triangle is equal to the square root of the remaining side. Oh joy, rapture! I’ve got a brain!

## The correct statement is: quote:

## The sum of the squares of the legs of a right triangle is equal to the square of the hypotenuse.

Which only reinforces the utter brilliance that is the Simpsons. Didn’t even know about that one…

**Cardinal** : I think Die Hard 2 and Terminator 2 are co-leaders in the “most goofs” contest over at the IMDb.

My biggest beef with Die Hard 2 was I guess more of a plot hole, really: the planes have enough fuel to circle for hours. Or enough to frickin’ FLY TO ANOTHER AIRPORT.

I’m sorry, but this isn’t even an intentional slipup. It’s just part of the script. After the narrator character says “I still can’t think of anything,” Tyler replies “Flashback humor. How droll.”

As far as famous goofs, what about the hanging person in the Wizard of Oz. It may be UL, but it’s famous.

“Kessel Run in 12 parsecs” was explained back in the 70s as establishing Han Solo as a fast-talking bull artist.

As for Bruce Willis’ PacBell payphone in DIE HARD 2, it gets worse. They show Dulles Airport being patrolled by uniformed DC cops. The terminal at Dulles is three counties away from DC (It’s just inside Loudon County, VA; Arlington and Fairfax counties are between it and DC).

For what it’s worth, the highest-rated mistake at [Movie-Mistakes.com](http://www.movie-mistakes.com/best.php) is the stormtrooper hitting his head in **Star Wars**. Their #2 mistake is from Harry Potter, when Harry magically jumps from one side of the table to the other (from sitting next to Ron to sitting next to Hermione) right after being sorted.

Wasn’t the Mel Gibson film “Forever Young” supposedly set in New England (the East Coast?). It seemed to me like it was. Because there’s a scene where he’s out on the street, and there’s a “Ralphs” grocery store in the background. Ralphs stores are _only_ in Southern California. (Nitpicky I know, but I noticed!)

James Bond has to drive a car through a narrow alley in _Diamonds are Forever_. He uses a service ramp to put his car up on the two passenger-side wheels. When he emerges from the alley, the car is on the driver-side wheels.

Neat trick.

**RickJay** you are probably right about the sun in _Green Berets_, I never saw the movie and was going from memory of what I thought I had heard.

**HubZilla** , where is the cardboard cutout in _Three Men and a Baby_…is it next to the ghost?

Yeah, and what was up with that **Memento**?

When **Lawrence of Arabia** was originally released one of the reels was printed backwards. (they reversed the negative) There was no lettering to show it up but the characters on screen were going the wrong way. (they had traveld going, I thing left to right then returned to where they came from going left to right again)

My (un)favorites are from LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring:

1. The cave troll in Moria repeatedly runs thru the shaft of sunlight, which would have turned him to stone

and, much more obscure, but still pisses me off 'cause it wasn’t in the book

1. The orcs are shown forging tulwars made of steel over a fire made from green wood, which isn’t possible in real life. It would never get hot enough.

In Time After Time, H.G. Wells follows Jack the Ripper 90 years into the future and chases him all over San Francisco, when all he needed to do was go back five minutes and slap the cuffs on him in his dining room.

Would’ve made the movie only ten minutes long, of course.

Maybe they were using the wood to give their swords a pine fresh scent.

It _was_ the “ghost”.

I felt like it deserved to be a big one, since it had a lot of effect, and everyone was talking about it. Because they left that cutout in the window, tons of people bought the VHS just to pause that scene.

Yes, as did I.

In ST:WOK when Joachim dies, and Khan cradles him in his arms.

Joachim says, “You’re is the superior intellect” and then he dies. As Khan pulls him closer, saying “I shall avenge you” you can see the dead actor close his eyes.
