If you’re ever heading to the Antipodes you might want to have your health and blood pressure checked first then. 🙂 (Assuming that’s not where you are a colonial of anyway…)

For me… “giving 110%”… or any number over 100… makes me think the speaker innumerate.

Agreed. Also dislike:
**“Sucks” or “Blows” or “Bites”** - Just over used.
**“Paradign” or “Outside the box”** - You read a business book, good for you.
**“PWND”** - No you didn’t, and you can’t spell either.
**“I could care less.”** - Really? I couldn’t.
**“Knocked head over heels.”** - My heels are already that way. Knock me heels over head and I’ll be concerned.
**“Screwed the Pooch”** - Meh. Vivid way of saying “Screwed up.”
**“Military Industrial Complex”** - Makes me immediately think you are a talking parrot saying words you heard and are too lazy/dumb to paraphrase.
**“Capilitalist Pig/Running Dog”** - See above.
**“Dittohead. Dumbocrate. Republikkkan. Etc”** - See above.
**“Drink the Koolaid.”** - See above.

And my absolute most hated:
**“I’d eat the nuts out of her shit!”** - Meaning someone for whom you would do anything because of her beauty/awsomeness. BLEECH!! Way too vivid.

Late to the party here, but I want to come (vaguely) to the defense of “FML.” You’ve got it out of context. FML isn’t really an idiom; it’s supposed to be a punchline. It’s used for examples of awful coincidences, really bad timing, or that feeling of being caught in headlights.

It really exists as a way for people to point out that they’re laughing at their own misfortunes; it’s not really supposed to denote a “big deal.”

It sounds like the folks you’re seeing are either way overusing it or don’t get it.

That said, I find it way overused and only moderately funny at best.

Ugh, I just wasted five minutes coming to the defense of something I really, really don’t give a crap about. FML.

> Somebody used the word “wojus” in a thread here recently, and seriously, fuck that guy with bullets. If you’re wondering, it’s Irish slang for “poor” or “crap”. Nothing wrong with those words or the sentiment, but there’s something wrong with getting me to google a word that could be replaced with “not good”. Of course, if you’re Irish and hanging out with all your Irish pals and they know what it means, that’s totally unwojus, because I won’t be hearing it, seeing how I’m not.

I come across plenty of terms here I don’t understand until I google them. Boo-thefuck-hoo that colloquialisms exist that you’re not immediately familiar with.

I have a professor right now whom I hate for a variety of reasons. He constantly uses the phrase “comme de raison” (“as one might expect”). In one three-hour class, I counted more than thirty uses.

Anyway, mine is “Let me be clear” or “Let’s be clear.” Politicians use it continually. I cringe every time one of ours uses it.

That’s one of Obama’s favorites. But, you’re right, lots of politicians use it. They also like, “Make no mistake…”

Please. What is wrong with saying hello? We did that for hundreds of years in society. Why the need for a new term?

And you don’t have boyz. Suge Knight has boyz. You have friends. You are not a rap mogul. Come to terms with that and return to normal English.

This isn’t my first rodeo.

Heard it yesterday. And somebody laughed in response.

It is no longer clever, amusing, nor original.
Maybe I’ll start a new one: “This isn’t my first circle jerk.”

Minor :nitpick: ‘This _ **ain’t** _ my first rodeo.’
IMHO to say “This _isn’t_ my first rodeo.”, makes somebody sound like a ‘dude’.

“This isn’t my first circle jerk.” So then, I take it you’re familiar with the niceties of a ‘circle jerk’. I’ve always wondered about the specifics of such.
Could you perchance, pleasure those of us less familiar, as to the proper procedures and subsequent etiquette of the aforementioned? (Pardon the pun.:p)
