My current car model is the Fireball 500. For building reference, I went to youtube, which had the 60’s movie, with Frankie and Annette. Figured I’d post the film here, showing its singularly awful attempt at dubbing. Stunningly way off and crappy. (Mesmerizingly so, for me, for some reason.) Curious if anyone knows of any other stinkers - preferably an English-speaking film, considering how quite understandably tricky it can be, at times, for seamlessly dubbing a different language into a film. That looks like the soundtrack got out of sync with the picture. I could lip-read enough of Annette’s dialog to match it with what came a couple of seconds later, when the camera was on the guy. ---

Sure - it’s just great seeing Frankie speak with Annette’s voice. In the following sequence, though, I don’t think that’s the case - looks like there’s more dialogue being _spoken_ by buddy than by what we _see_. There are some great examples in James Bond movies. Of course, with all the voice dubbing they did, it’s not surprising if a few examples fail. The ones that annoy me the most are: _Diamonds are Forever_ – at the very beginning, pre-credits sequence. An as-yet-unseen Sean Connery (who took over from George Lazenby) is seeking the whereabouts of Ernst Stavro Blofeld. He throws what appears to be a Japanese guy though a paper wall where he slides (unconvincingly) into a wooden support. Connery’s voice asks him where he can find Blofeld. The man answers “Cai-Cai-Cairo!”. Except that his lips don’t move at all. Worse than a Godzilla movie. _The Man with the Golden Gun_ – near the very end, as often happens, the bad guy’s henchman attacks Bond. In this case it’s Herve Villechaize as “Tattoo”, who’s so small compared to Roger Moore that they play it comedically. Bond shuts Tattoo up in a large trunk, from which you can hear him continuing to shout imprecations. To this Bond replies “Shut up!” Only it’s in a voice that’s obviously not Moore’s. Nor is it Britt Ekland’s, or Tattoo’s. And nobody else is on the ship. ---

I think the most hilariously bad dubbing I’ve seen was in _What’s Up, Tiger Lily?_ ---

Well yeah but it was intentional for comedic effect and the source film was in Japanese so why would you expect it to match? ---

When I went to see _Godzilla 1985_ in the theaters my expectations were not high, but I was truly appalled when they simply dubbed english over the japanese that the actors were obviously speaking. I thogh they were going to be more sophisticated than that – maybe use subtitles for the Japanese scenes, or something. But it was the same old “mouths don’t match the words” as in the old 1950s and 1960s movies. ---

The 90s VHS release _Special Friends! Starring You on Kazoo_ got 15 minutes of Internet fame a few years back via the “Kazoo Kid” meme. About half of the kids’ dialogue was obviously dubbed by an adult woman. ---

There was a similar thread about 20 years ago it seems. Someone posted a video of some Scandinavian “Action” cartoon with the worst/funniest dubbing I’ve ever seen/heard. I still laugh about it to this day. Can’t find it now. ---
