# Most hilarious moment of the Primary

So, now that the primary season’s wrapping up and Romney looks to be a shoe-in, it’s time to reflect on what has been the most comedic election season in a long, long time.
What was the best? Herman Cain quoting\* the Simpsons movie in a serious response? Palin saying she would accept a surprise nomination at the convention? Obama laying the smack-down on Trump?
For me, the most amazing bit, in the category of dear-god-I-didn’t-think-anyone-had-the-audacity, is when Gingrich actually won South Carolina on the back of his righteous outburst against the media for publicizing his ex-wife’s tell all book. I mean, given what he had done against Clinton…did he think we all forgot that? I guess some people did. Amazing. 😃

Mitt Romney offering Perry a $10, 000.00 dollar bet with a straight face after spending months trying to convince voters he was just like them.
Herman Cain quoting inspuring lyrics from the Pokemon movie. In fact, Cain’s entire candidacy was pure comedy gold. I’m still convinced the whole thing was just an inspred piece of performance art 🙂

This is the one that will be remembered longest, I think.
Really, though, the whole Not-Romney concept will go down in history as the funniest organizing metaphor for a primary process.

Herman Cain quoting the Pokeman theme song was pretty good.
Santorum saying he didn’t want to give money to black people, and wanted them to earn it themselves was great too.
Also the Bad Lip Reading videos were pretty good too. The Rick Perry one was the best.

Indeed, this was funny and appears destined to be the one remembered. But my favorite Rick Perry flub was from a previous debate… the text here only hints at how stumbling and bumbling it actually was:
_Is it the Mitt Romney that was on the side of — against the Second Amendment before he was for the Second Amendment? Was it — was before — he was before the social programs from the standpoint of — he was for standing up for Roe v. Wade before he was against first — Roe v. Wade?_
I’d probably be worse behind the podium at one of these things than even Perry, so I’m generally somewhat sympathetic to candidates who trip over words or forget what they were going to say, even if I dislike their politics as much as I dislike Perry’s. But what made this delicious was that it was obviously a canned, rehearsed jackass “gotcha” line and it just completely boomeranged on him.

I had one in mind, read through this thread, and promptly forgot what I had in mind. In the meantime, I just have to comment that this was so painful to watch I didn’t even have the heart to find it funny, even though I was praying for Perry’s downfall.
ETA: I remembered! The most hilarious moment was when Trump decided to moderate a debate, and only two candidates agreed to participate so Trump had to cancel the debate. It made Trump look like a jackass and Gingrich and Santorum look like the most transparent suck-ups of the entire bunch.
