OP’s possible motivation: 1. Open up with a provocative title using the power of the rhetorical fallacy, and wait for the outcry. Now the OP is a “victim” of respondent’s persecution. OP can show like minded family, friends, and others, of their “martyrdom,” and continue the self-deception on how close minded and nasty minded those [_insert evil group of choice here_] really are. Thus, you have demonstrated to yourself and others that you were right _all along_. 2. A troll with a bad case of diarrhea trying to catch and fling execrable opinion through the bars at the respondents–but only making a bigger mess of itself and its cage. OP should really read up on _The Art of Rhetoric_; as it would help contain the unexpected bowel movement that occurred at the start of the thread. Looking forward to OP’s personal growth as he/she are washed free from rhetorical sins via the garden hose of Aristotle. ---

I love the little fantasy image of conservatives actually evaluating other people’s ideas! “It’s Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve…'s ideas about what a marriage should be!” Sandra Fluke is a slut who wants to be paid to have sex … y ideas! Barack Obama is a muslim socialist mooley … with bad ideas! Conservatives don’t have the first interest in evaluating any ideas. Presently, the Republican party is a “post policy” party because they don’t give a shit about ideas. They’re all about opposing people, not proposing ideas. Heck, consider that recent study about selecting energy efficient light bulbs. Conservatives were fine with selecting a light bulb based on it having preferable specs, and were even okay paying a little more for it, but once you put an environmentally friendly label on it, they rejected it. Evaluating ideas my ass. ---

While I won’t go along completely with what the OP said, I do agree there appears to be a level of vitriol and animosity from many people on the left. Neither I nor the majority of conservatives I know “hate” any current politicians, including Obama. We don’t take smug satisfaction in the death of a liberal opponent the way the liberals did when Thatcher (or Reagan for that matter) died. Painting all conservatives, including all Tea Party members, as racist homophobes is just as improper as saying that all members of OWS were tree-hugging stoned out hippies looking to overthrow America (and don’t forget that OWS had [corporate sponsors](http://movementresourcegroup.org/?page_id=205) and was supported by some of the most [vile groups](http://pjmedia.com/zombie/2011/10/31/the-99-official-list-of-ows/) around {sorry for posting from this site but it is a comprehensive list with supporting links})\*. Throwing crap at someone will still leave the thrower with dirty hands. I don’t like Bachmann (or Cheney, or W, or Limbaugh, or Beck). But I don’t “hate” Obama, Pelosi, Biden, Maddow, etc. Hate the policies, not the person. \*I know some people will say that I am throwing crap and painting the groups with a broad brush. I am merely pointing out the hypocrisy here. There are no angels. We are all guilty to some extent. That does not make it right. ---

Maybe you’re choosing to hang out with a better class of people, but there’s a world of difference between “most of the conservatives I know don’t hate any politicians” and “liberals are more hateful than conservatives.” ---

They just resent and ignore the facts that disprove their ideas. It is the damned **factchecking** that is the problem. That’s why they don’t do it. ---
