Are you sure the store didn’t sell sea shells on the sea shore?

> I’m working in Vegas this week and walked past the [Beef Jerky Store](https://www.beefjerkystore.com/) while doing the tourist thing the other night.

There are a few of those around. I have been to one in Eureka Springs, Arkansas that has an assortment of oddly specific shops. There is also one in the Silver Dollar City amusement park in Branson, MO. It was awesome and oddly cheap for a touristy place.

Beef Jerky is kind of a misnomer. They had every kind of jerky there is from around the world including kangaroo, reindeer, bison and dozens more. Almost all of it was extremely good. You could fill up a small bag for less than $5. If we had one of those around here, I would be in there several times a week.

That general area also has a small chain of jerky shops that seem to be doing well enough because they keep expanding.

Here is one:

I was thinking about doing a thread about stores that sold two very different things.
My favorite: a tile and carpet store that sold trading cards.
Also went to a store that specialized in antique toys. In one corner they had a display case full of military antiques.

In Des Moines, Iowa, there is a dry cleaner known a Beaver Cleaners (since renamed Beaver Ave Cleaners. Just no fun at all.). According to the EPA, they’ve had no violations.

There is Igor’s in Uptown New Orleans. It is a combination bar and laundromat. By that, I don’t mean that it is a laundromat with a causal bar for people waiting for their clothes. It is a hard-core bar open 24/7 where you can get as drunk as you want as long as you give way to people moving their laundry around. It has been around for a long time too so they must have done something right.

“Open 24 hours - check. Full Bar. - check. Pub grub - check. Pool - check. Video games - check. Juke box - check. Get your laundry done - wait, what? Yes - laundromat too. Igor’s has it all.”

It appears that Probasco’s doesn’t sell wigs any more.

There is a thread here on the Dope about shops that sell strange combinations of products. I’ll see if I can find it.

So, what does a knot store sell? Lengths of knotted string? Just the string (do-it-yourself knots).

Dave Barry once wrote about _The French Embassy_, a combination gourmet French Restaurant and Bowling Alley in Arcola, Indiana.

I’ve never been there, and I think it’s out of business. You can find references to it on the Internet, but the most recent is from 2007.

I grew up in Des Moines. Beaver Avenue is a main thoroughfare through one part of town, and yes, there are all kinds of jokes about it.

We were in the car and my gf mentioned that the woman she’d recently purchased a horse from owns a bridle shop. I thought about it a bit and then asked if she sold saddles and other stuff as well. She explained it is a **bridal** shop. Meanwhile, I had reasoned to myself that bridles are complicated enough to justify a specialty shop.
