Well, “Gridiron Heroes”, the Detroit Lions fight song isn’t that horrid, although it’s a very old one. It’s just very ironic now.

I am a fan of the Chargers- and I love our fight song! It is even my cell ring tone during football season. It is cheesy in every sense of the word- straight from the 70’s and straight awesome!

That said- I have to say that the nerdiest, cheesiest worst most hilariously bad fight song out there that I have heard- is [The Steeler Polka](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UazJ0d-KmJU) (I am at work without sound- so I can only assume that this is the correct song. I would assume so- how many Steeler Polka’s can there be. OK- two, the original one and a newer one with udated players names)

Granted, the lyrics are limited but the [Dallas Stars](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKqwX_nTy5c) fight song was at least done by Pantera.

No, not _every_ one. _Bear Down, Chicago Bears_ kicks ass. It’s maybe the only pro song that can stand up to the great college fight songs.

While the rest of us might think turning \*Eine kleine Nachtmusik \*into a football fight song might be ridiculous, I actually think Mozart would have approved.

What, no love for “Fight Fiercely, Hahvahd” by Tom Lehrer? All right, not a pro sport, but still…

\*Fight fiercely, Harvard, fight, fight, fight!
Demonstrate to them our skill.
Albeit they possess the might,
Nonetheless we have the will.

How we will celebrate our victory?
We shall invite the whole team up for tea. (How jolly!)
Hurl that spheroid down the field,
And fight, fight, fight!

Fight fiercely, Harvard, fight, fight, fight!
Impress them with our prowess, do!
Oh, fellows, do not let the Crimson down,
Be of stout heart and true.

Come on, chaps, fight for Harvard’s glorious name!
Won’t it be peachy if we win the game? (Oh, goody!)
Let’s try not to injure them,
But fight, fight, fight!
Let’s not be rough, though!
Fight, fight, fight!
And do fight fiercely!
Fight, fight, fight!\*

USAF-

The only part of my post that was remotely serious was the whole “We Dey” adaptation that I found to be a bit weird.

There’s a rhyme in the fight song for the Minnesota Wild that grates on my nerves every time I hear it:

_We are the child
of the strong and wild_

We are the child? WE are the child?

I dunno, _Skol Vikings_ sucks something furious. But the fans do go nuts for it. And what’s up with Minnesotans spelling all the damn time? Is it to prove that we can or something? Guys, the rest of the nation knows we have a good school system, there’s no need to prove it.

I’m probably still bitter that they got rid of the kickass brass band they used to have back in the early 90s. Now they played a neato fight song.

As a 49er fan, I’ve got to say the closest thing we have is “We’re the 49ers” which is about as bad as a song can be. I thought it was a lame copy from the Bears, but it actually came first.

It makes me look over at the the kickass “Autumn Wind” thing the Raiders have and shake my head.

Eh? The 49ers didn’t exist until 1946, five years after _Bear Down, Chicago Bears_ was written.

I meant the Super Bowl Shuffle, sorry. The 49ers’ “official” fight song, at least in the 50’s, is the [Football Polka](http://philadelphia-eagles.net/fightsongs/nfc-49ers.html).
