Don’t forget her covers of “I only wanna be with you” and “More More More”

Some of my favorite odd covers:

Gin and Juice - Sissy Bar
Take the Money and Run - Killdozer
Do you Think I’m Sexy - The Revolting Cocks
Teenager in Love - Bad Manners
Ace of Spades - Balzac (just because of their heavy Korean accents)
Cum on Feel the Noize - Bran Van 3000 (acoustic chick with electronic beats)
Eye of the Tiger - Camp Kill Yourself
Insane in the Brain - The Connells
Close to You - Ethyl Meatplow
Feel like making love - goldfinger
Fat Bottom Girls - Hayseed Dixie
Still is Still Moving to Me - Jello Biafra
Any of Manic Hispanic’s songs - they do punk “parodies” of classic punk sopngs all with a “mexican” twist. (i’m so bored of the USA becomes I’m so bored with you esse"
Black Betty - Nick Cave
Go Your Own Way - NOFX
Harder than your Husband - The Persuasions
My guitar wants to kill your mama - The Persuasions
Secret Agent Man - The Plugz

There’s a series of discs in the “Pickin’ On…” series. It’s a particular artist’s hits done by bluegrass studio musicians.

> I also love Shonen Knife’s “On Top of the World”, originally from the Carpenters. Shonen Knife has perhaps the worst set of Engrish accents (they’re Japanese) I’ve known, and they’re kinda bad at the whole “singing well” thing, but they play their hearts out and mangle the hell out of pretty much everything they sing. Extremely entertaining.

From the same Carpenters tribute album is a fantastic version of “Superstar” by Sonic Youth.

I just found an unusual one tonight. The “Garden State” soundtrack has a cover of the Postal Service’s “Such Great Heights”. The original is a great electronica song with a fast driving beat. The cover by Iron and Wine is a soft acoustic version without any drums at all. It’s very weird.

Thanks a lot. It is going to take me years to overcome the trauma that is caused by that song. His horrifying (not horrifying-bad but horrifying-scared the SHIT out of me) rendition has burned itself into my brain and I am now seriously considering a lobotomy

Rolf Harris has done some interesting cover versions; a much-despised cover of _Stairway To Heaven_, which comes across as tongue-in-cheek, although Rolf claims this is unintentional - he says he had never actually heard the song before covering it and that he only saw it on paper.
Rolf:Oooooh… and it makes me wonder… How does it affect you blokes?
Backing singers: Oooooh… and it makes us wonder…

He also did a sort of folk/skiffle version of _Bohemian Rhapsody_. I like Rolf Harris; not only is he a fantastic, energetic, imaginative entertainer, but also because his cover versions prick the pomposity of people who take the originals waaaay too seriously.

I was listening to Radio Paradise a while back, and they played a kind of cheesy, lounge lizard version of Crazy Train by a group called Fun Lovin’ Criminals. Truly weird.

Radio Paradise, for those who might be interested, is a non-commercial, listener supported music streaming site, it makes great background accompaniment for doing things like browsing your favorite message board. [Check 'em out.](http://www.radioparadise.com)
