kputt, the definition that site had was not the one I was considering. I thought you meant people who weren’t careful and used no contraception at all, because they knew they could “just get an abortion” if they conceived. That site also includes abortions that are chosen because contraceptives sometimes fail even when responsible, conscientious adults use them. …Which is basically every abortion that isn’t undertaken because of threats to the health of the mom or non-viability of the child. It would include rape, by the way, since that occurs because contraception wasn’t used. As I read further on that site, I see that it has an agenda. I would want to know more about the source of those reported statistics before I believed they represented the population of women seeking abortions. ---

It was a site for pregnant women who don’t know what to do. It’s like Birthright if you never heard of that. I always think there is a better alternative, no matter what, than having an abortion. ---

I am not sure it is appropriate for this thread to turn into a forum where you personally counsel Doper women long after the procedure. Women have been brave enough to volunteer this information because it gives them credibility and provides us with some firsthand knowledge of the choice process and the procedure and its effects on someone personally. I can understand that your passion about this topic makes it hard not to preach to those of us who you think should be in jail, but can I appeal to you from the stance of “Closing the barn door after the horse has gotten out?” ---

And I’m not counseling them. I was offering my opinion on what I thought would have been a better choice. I don’t think any less of these women. Geesh!!! From now on, I’m going to step back. Obviously, I’m coming across like I hate these women and think they should be in jail and stuff. I’m also not in the position to judge these women and that’s why I said I’ll leave it up to the Lord (if you are religious). ---

kputt, the point is I am religious. I attend church every Sunday like a good little girl and I go a catholic law school. But you know, even good Catholic girls make mistakes. It is only for the Lord to judge. Judge not, lest you be judged yourself kputt. ---

**kputt** , you judged us all before we even had a chance. You came in telling us that we all committed murder in your eyes. You did not know any of our situations. This is why so many of us stay quiet about what we have gone through. We’re either afraid or just plain tired of defending ourselves. People like you have made us feel ashamed of ourselves. I understand you feel strongly about you opinions and you have every right to. You could try to sway us, but it will work no more than us trying to sway you to see our side of it. We’ve all made up our minds long ago on this matter. We pick and choose what we want to hear… both sides. ---

It means I accidently said something. Is that hard to understand? :rolleyes: Obviously I didn’t mean it because I didn’t even remember that I said it and was wondering why people were saying I said they should go to jail. ---

I just can’t change my beliefs though because women feel ashamed of aborting their child. But I will try not to come off as strong anymore. The law is on your side, so don’t worry about what I think. This is only between you and God. Like I said, this is a sore subject for me, and I definitely feel strongly against it. Can someone though please answer me why it’s more difficult to put a child up for adoption than it is to make the decision to have an abortion? That doesn’t make much sense to me at all. ---
