People who could do this to a kitten are sick, sick! I am trying not to cry after seeing that picture. How can people be so cruel? It is a natural instinct in people to want to protect babies, including baby animals - how can people not have this instinct? How can people get enjoyment out of watching a kitten burn? This just ruined my day. ---

Glad I saw this before I posted my own thread. We’re living in fucked up times when so many will hurt the weak without giving a though and sometimes taking joy in it. The crime isn’t worse than molesting children but says something possibly far worse about the perpetrators. There has always been a foolish notion that part of being masculine is hating cats (which never made any fucking sense to me) but this goes way beyond. We’ll see how this big tough kitten hurting man does in jail with hard cons grilling his ass. ---

Unbelievable. Sickening. A question, though. Maybe I misunderstood. The picture on the CNN page wasn’t taken _after_ the incident, was it? That kitten at least _looks_ good enough not to be put down (respiratory problems can’t be seen from the outside, I realise that). ---

The woman who rescued the cat has my eternal, undying respect. Would that there were more like her. The “man” who did this . . . there isn’t a word to describe him. The sad thing is, cases of animal cruelty like this one are becoming more and more common, or at least more commonly reported. My wife runs a website which, in part, tracks cases of animal cruelty around the country, and she sees – without exaggeration – three or four similar cases each week. Recently, several states have passed laws which allow harsher penalties for cruelty committed on pets. More states need to do the same. ---

“People” who will do that to a kitten will just as likely do that to a child. It takes a complete lack of empathy, a sociopathological callousness, to torture an innocent victim in such a way. What I don’t understand in the slightest is the onlookers who cheered and laughed. Pack mentality is one thing, but this is just sick. The traits that _supposedly_ differentiate human from animal are empathy and reason. So I guess this guy can rightly be called inhuman. I’ve gone beyond anger on this one and just feel a deep sadness. ---

I am just about ready to go kill those people- wait, no, that would be too good for them. I want to burn them. Stick them on a hot grill while hundreds of cats surround and watch. I’m normally a very forgiving person, but this is totally unexcusable. It’s a very good thing that I don’t have these people’s names, or it would probably get dangerous. ---

**Calliope** : The word is sociopathic. Which those stupid fucks most certainly were. I agree that descriptive thread titles are a very good thing. Maybe something equivalent to TMI: EC[A/C/] (Extreme Cruelty to [Animals/Children/ or just in general]). This would be ECA, the fuck who let her children die in her car would be ECC, and they both could be EC, along with posts ranting against cruelty to beings other than animals and children (elder abuse, wife abuse, husband abuse, etc.). It might save others some mental anguish (and is probably needed more than the TMI warning in that light). ---

Holy crap on a stick! I work in Liberty’s school district and while I understand that some of our fine citizens aren’t the brightest crayons in the box, I had no idea that so many of them were fucking morons.
