There was an architect in the other thread who clarified the law; handicapped bathroom stalls are not reserved for handicapped people. They are available and accessible for them, but not reserved for them, like parking stalls. I lean towards no, you probably shouldn’t use them if you don’t have to if there are other stalls available, but I can’t totally condemn someone for doing something that isn’t against the law. I wouldn’t use one knowing a handicapped person is going to come in behind me, but you can’t know that, and as others have said, regular stalls can be awfully tiny these days (like stand on the toilet to shut the door tiny). So, I think I can only give this rant a 75% endorsement. ---

Wheelchair using Doper checking in: It was INCREDIBLY douchy for this girl to use a handicapped stall when she had the option of not doing so. But I reealize that 13 year olds tend to be very self-centered, so I’ll give her some slack. As far as waiting, IF a LEGITIMATELY disabled man is in the stall, I can hang on. ---

Also, how do you determine if the person is legitimately disabled, since not every issue that would necessitate the use of that stall is readily apparent when the person is walking around? ---
