Mothers, please teach your daughters...

Yeah, it’s a habit of hers. She follows me around the board just to be snarky to me. It’s kind of flattering, really- I’m important!

Forgot to address the first part of your post. If the restroom is full, then I expect to wait my turn and have often waited longer just to use the handicap stall. I would never expect to get preferential treatment.

:smack:My sarcasm meter is broken today.

Although I’ve never been in a football baseball stadium with 45 EMPTY stalls. Whenever I’m in a place with a lot of stalls, it generally means there are a lot of people.

On second thought, Ruby is exactly right. Severe claustrophobia is a disability and Alice has every right to use the handicap stalls. My apologies.

The rails are also good for “hovering” so your pristine va jay jay doesnt have to touch the toilet seat. The latest DSM has “hoveritis” as a legitmate mental dysfunction…

Oh man, that’s another rant…hoverers who don’t lift the fricken seat. Don’t get me started.

Easy. If the person inside the stall has reflexes fast enough to avoid the colostomy bag, chances are great that that person isn’t handicapped.
If the person gets hit with the colostomy bag*, it’s a good indication that person is handicapped in some way and an apology should be forthcoming immediately.

[sub]*only applicable if the person flinging the colostomy bag shouts a sufficient warning. like “TWO!” To do otherwise would be quite rude.[/sub]

Many times the bathrooms at public venues are virtually empty at certain times like a one-point football game with 58 seconds on the clock.

I’ve been in some big stadiums, and they don’t have that many stalls for ladies. They probably should, but that’s another rant.

I can endorse that.

There was an architect in the other thread who clarified the law; handicapped bathroom stalls are not reserved for handicapped people. They are available and accessible for them, but not reserved for them, like parking stalls. I lean towards no, you probably shouldn’t use them if you don’t have to if there are other stalls available, but I can’t totally condemn someone for doing something that isn’t against the law. I wouldn’t use one knowing a handicapped person is going to come in behind me, but you can’t know that, and as others have said, regular stalls can be awfully tiny these days (like stand on the toilet to shut the door tiny). So, I think I can only give this rant a 75% endorsement.

Never been to NYC’s Post Authority Bus Terminal, have you?

Since when is a handicapped stall a dressing room? When I was wearing the full cast, if I had to wait for some inconsiderate ass to change her clothes in the stall, she would have gotton my cast across her mouth.

Wheelchair using Doper checking in: It was INCREDIBLY douchy for this girl to use a handicapped stall when she had the option of not doing so. But I reealize that 13 year olds tend to be very self-centered, so I’ll give her some slack. As far as waiting, IF a LEGITIMATELY disabled man is in the stall, I can hang on.

Maybe you should head to the bathroom a little earlier so you can wait the 45 seconds it takes me to throw on new pants after a “female emergency” without feeling the need to resort to assault.

Just out of curiosity, what do you do if the person in the stall isn’t legitimately disabled? Also, how do you determine if the person is legitimately disabled, since not every issue that would necessitate the use of that stall is readily apparent when the person is walking around?

I’m LOUSY at determining “invisible disabilities”. But if it the person was like the teen in the OP, I’d shoot an evil eye or roll my eyes.

“Well then you wait. You wait.”

You should’ve stopped there. Ladies, unless you have an open wound on your ass, just sit on the fucking seat.

Of course (character) Larry David is a jerk!

Did you watch the whole video? The guy in the wheelchair was the jerk. I always think of that episode when this discussion comes up here.

Other than him getting pedantic and PC, he wasn’t all that bad. BTW, I was referring to David in general, not that clip specifically.
