Motorcycle towing costs?

WTF?! :dubious:

So… if your motorcycle is towed and stored for 24 hours, you owe $2400.00 to get it out of impound?!

Over here in the UK we just had a major change in the law. There was a common scam, where you could get clamped on private land and have to pay some ridiculous amount of money (hundreds of pounds) to get free. The clampers would lurk in ‘hot’ spots and pounce as soon as the driver disappeared.

This was legal so long as there was a sign, although many signs seemed to become mysteriously obscured. When you got back to your car, and phoned the clampers, they would insist on cash - even escorting people to a cashpoint in some cases.

Now only the local authority can clamp or tow illegally parked cars.

No, silly.

That would be $4800 :frowning:

See, you never know with tow companies. I was at the place that towed mine at 7 a.m. because they also tend to vary as to what they call a day, so getting there after noon will add a day’s storage or some such nonsense. The City of Chicago got me that way once - my car was towed at 6 p.m. but somehow I owed a day’s storage in less than 12 hours when I got it. I once woke the staff at a city tow yard at 2 a.m. to get a car back (everyone was literally asleep at their desks) - they grumbled something fierce.
