Mountain lion captured in the middle of San Francisco

There was a new version starting in 2017 that specifically cast him as a gay playwright. But that was not the beginning of the trope, if I may so call it. Jokes about him fitting the gay stereotype started as far back as the early gay lib era (1969 onwards). He hadn’t been that popular a character compared to lots of other Hanna-Barbera characters, which could partly account for the number here who never encountered the trope themselves.

Bert Lahr sued and won against some commercials using the Snagglepuss character and voice, such that the commercials had to include the actual voice actor’s name (Daws Butler) somewhere in the commercial.

Yeah, even on this board there’s a post from 2002 about Snag possibly being gay, so it’s a lot more than 10 years.

It never occurred to me, either. I just thought he was theatrical. (Exit, stage right.)

The character as written was not gay (until the 2017 re-boot). But you know how people, especially men, get when a male character is non-standard regarding masculinity. It’s giggling all the way down.

Update: 157M (his “official” name) has been relocated and released. Video shows San Francisco mountain lion bounding into the wild after release

With THAT name???

They are.
