**Noodles** , are you sure that that thread was a comment on the Staff Report, though? Keep in mind that Cecil also [did a column](http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a3_241b.html) on it. In fact, Dex even links to that column in [his own answer](http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mhip.html), so folks’d be aware of it. The OP of that thread could well have been referring to either. ---

Chronos, I think the first sentence of the OP, i.e. \<\\> makes it pretty clear that the poster was referring to the staff report, especially since C K Dexter Haven’s staff report had just been published. I was aware of the Straight Dope column; as a matter of fact, originally, that’s what I thought the poster was referring. Boy, all this explaining has gotten me thirsty. Time for another bourbon. ---

Mark click; shot of bourbon; bound click; shot; cut click; shot; go to new page; shot; mark click; shot; paste click; shot. Realize that you just moved the thread to the pit. Shot. Mark click; shot of bourbon; bound click; shot; cut click; shot; go to new page; shot; mark click; shot; paste click; shot. Run out of bourbon; go get new bottle; shot. Realize that while you were moving the thread, two new posts were made in the old location; shot. Go back; redo move; shot. Fall out of chair, taking mouse along; retrieve mouse and reseat self; shot. Close form used to move thread; shot. Task completed; shot. Call friend to request that he post something in a wrong thread. ---

Sparteye, my procedure does not benefit from the same formal rules as yours. Perhaps I will give your method a shot.
