Movie adaptations that so vexed you that you swore vengeance on the studio

Someone mentioned it upthread, & I have to agree: Ron Howard must never be forgiven for what he did to “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”

I third this, especially because now, if someone tells you about seeing it, you have to wonder which version they’re talking about.

But nearly everything about it was a travesty. Except Jim Carrey. He did an okay job. It doesn’t make up for de-minimalizing the story in a way that devalues it in a way that normally only happens with fantasy.

Heck, how about adaptations of other adaptations? Brian de Palma’s Body Double had more nudity, sexual content, graphic violence and cursing than Alfred Hitchcock could’ve managed when he made Vertigo, but…

Body Double has a happy ending, while Vertigo does not
