I saw a movie on TV during some creature double feature in the early 80s, and it’s sort of stuck with me. ``` It was from the 60s or 70s, with a Hammer Horror/William Castle vibe. The scene I remember was a coven of witches in a dimly lit room with one of the witches being judged. The coven called forth the image of a woman, and as the witch was looking at it, the image turned into a skeleton (This effect was super cheesy. It was obvious that the actress playing the image was standing behind a pane of glass, and the skeleton image was just superimposed). The leader of the coven--an older man--held up a baby's shoe, and the shoe was engulfed in flames while you could hear the sounds of a baby crying (Note that the baby itself was not shown). The witch being judged began to scream, and the rest of the coven attacked her. Any clues? TIA ``` ---

I had just happened to see a trailer for Brotherhood of Satan three days ago and you mentioning a ‘baby shoe’ made it all click and reminded me I had actually seen the damn thing decades ago. ---

Finding that movie was one of the high points of my week. I pretty much grew up with those monster movie matinee flicks, and there are so many of them that I vaguely wonder about (although the answer to 80% of the IDs has the words “Hammer Horror” in there somewhere). If I could help ID a movie for someone else, that’s just icing on the cake. Lay it on us!! 🆒 ---

The reason I asked… Flipping stations very late one night in the mid-90s, I stumbled across a movie that upset me enough to walk away from (plus I had to get up for work in the morning) but fascinated me enough to wonder what it was ever since. My memory or understanding may be faulty, but here goes: Stalin-era Russia (definitely NOT Nazis, although the rest my seem like it should be). All I remember was people standing in front of doors that didn’t open, and then getting shot in the head. A mass extermination. There were several doors and several lineups. This went on for some time. No heads were shown exploding, but one victim was a prostitute who was puffing her last smoke at the time, and the cigarette was shown hitting and sticking to the door as part of a mess. People would talk briefly as they lined up, and then boom. Everything was done emotionlessly, almost as if in a documentary. I also remember something about a huge pile of bodies outside a building (execution chamber?) being loaded into a truck. Any ideas? I hope someone can identify it so I can see :eek:🙂 Mine is a hazy, weed influenced memory… This would have been around 1988, though I couldn’t say what year the movie was from. I was at someone’s house and we were hanging out and the tv just happened to be on but we weren’t actively watching it so I only have bits and pieces. The film was black and white and seemed to be set in an orphanage or some kind of house where many children lived.There was a woman in charge and she was the stereotypical evil character. I don’t remember the plot or too much more about what was going on. Only that there was . . a meat grinder in the basement and children were being ground up. _No, I am not conflating it with the Pink Floyd video._ I remember being horrified and wondering why my friend wasn’t having any reaction, though again, we weren’t really watching it so she might not have caught any of it. I was kind of freaked out for the rest of the day. Ring any bells for anyone? ---

I know _The Simpsons_ has been around for a long time, but I think this predates it. Definitely nothing cartoon like or amusing about this flick. Again, I could be completely missremembering, but it had a “foreign vibe”. This was a Saturday afternoon so it was most likely one of those cheesy movies they used to show on things like \*Elvira \*and _Sinister Cinema_.I seem to remember the grinder scenes being shown in silhouette against the basement wall. Again again, I am not thinking of PF’s video, though perhaps their video was inspired by this. It was defintly made long before _The Wall._
