Yeah, but they didn’t actually have pictures of the various actors who’d played them (Anthony Michael Hall, Dana Hill, Juliette Lewis etc.) The joke is too inside otherwise!
In the upcoming Firefly movie it would be very funny if at some point Shepard Book, played by Ron Glass, would say “It could be worse. His name could be Wojciehowicz.”
They did something like that in St. Elsewhere. In one episode an amnesiac desperately searching for an identity decided he was Mary Tyler Moore’s character Mary Richards. At the same time a hospital inspector, played by Betty White, was visiting St. Eligius, and was startled by the guy greeting her as “SUE ANNE!!”
Also on St. Elsewhere, William Daniel’s character, Dr. Mark Craig, badly injured his hand. With his wife he traveled to Philedelphia to visit a surgeon who specialized in work on hands. The two are strolling along in Philedelphia and Mrs. Craig complains, “Mark, why did we have to come to Philedelphia in the summer? It’s too damned hot!” And Craig starts singing about how “It’s hot as Hell in Philadelphia!”
The last entry on this thread was posted about a year ago. Ah well, I still think it is better than starting two threads on the same day.
Now, the following isn’t from a movie, but rather from the Cartoon Show Teen Titans. I have not seen the recent episode entitled “Snowblind”. However, considering the episode description from the above site, I would have liked to see a French gentleman-thief in the epsode.: While battling a mysterious creature in the wilds of Siberia, Starfire is lost in a blinding snowstorm. A reclusive young soldier named Red Star comes to her aid and the two become fast friends. When Robin and the rest of the Titans arrive, they discover Red Star hides not only a tragic past, but a destructive secret. "
(Anyone else remember the character to whom I am referring?)
That was Lloyd Bouchner(sp) , the original actor in that episode
Ocean’s 12 had a bit like this where Tess, played by Julia Roberts, is told she looks like… and they never really say who, but they do make it obvious that they mean Julia Roberts (Bruce Willis has a cameo as himself). The similarity later becomes an important plot point.
There is also a bit in “A Hard Day’s Night” where John is stopped backstage by a woman and the following bit of (paraphrased) dialogue occurs:
And so on. I guess this doesn’t really fit in the OP, but it seems related to me.
