I’m referring to lines in a movie that make you cringe. Lines that remove you from the movie due to their badness. Terrible movies, and I know that’s all relative, should be excluded - too easy. I’m looking for generally good movies that had one execrable line that stood out from the rest. The classic example is, of course, **X-Men** : “Do you know what happens to a toad when it gets struck by lightning?” MY EARS!! Another one that always bothered me, from **Blade** : Blade has just defeated La Magra, so he utters this badass line: “Some motherfuckers are always trying to ice skate uphill.” Ugh. And the worst line in the entire Star Wars saga, from **AOTC** : “I don’t like sand. It’s coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. Not like here, where everything is soft and smooth.” ::urge to kill…rising…:: Any more brutally bad lines? ---

It’s such a poor excuse for an insult, and we’re supposed to go “Oh, _laser_ brain. I get it, cause this is a science fiction movie… lasers!”. ---

Okay, I’ve never actually seen this movie, but I read an interview with Joss Whedon a while ago where this came up. He wrote this line and was frustrated because it always comes up in discussions like this, but apparently Halle Berry’s delivery is not as intended. It was supposed to be low key and dry. ---

**Pearl Harbor**. I’m not going to pick a particular line (although if you insist, pretty much anything that the Baldwin who plays the squadron commander says will do) because the entire freaking screenplay is crap. ---

Every. Single. Line. In _The Village_. Every line should be used as a negative example in scriptwriting classes. That script was one huge cringe from beginning to end. _“What is your meaning?”_ :shiver: ---

“What the fuck was I talking about?” - Mr. Brown, _Reservoir Dogs_ I pick it not because the line itself is bad, but just because Quentin’s delivery of that one, particular, tiny, off-hand line is so jarring, stilted, and stumbly… terribly unrealistic. ---

Well the whole lot of this movie should’ve been rewritten and recast, but this thread reminded me of that line in that Arniold Schwarznegger(sq) movie, was it the seventh day? The one about the clones. Arch-nemesis of Arnie’s falls on his clone’s body, I think they both might be dead, I can’t remember. But they’re both together, facing each other one on top of the other. Identical bodies. Arnie says this; “Geez, when I told you to go fuck yourself I didn’t think you would take it literally” Worst… line… ever. Especially when delivered by Arnie. I know there’s a line in Back to the future that I don’t like, but for the life of me I cannot remember what it is. ---
