I am a man, and live in the UK. It used to irritate me when anyone said ‘guys’ in reference to a mixed gender group. Such as - ‘Can you guys get your admin done by Friday?’ My reply for about 3 years was always - ‘We are not guys, we are hot chicks’. No-one ever commented or even acknowledged it. (It’s from Dude, Where’s My Car?) MiM ---

It’s completely standard, and has been for decades, for “guys” to refer to a mixed gender group in California. I never even notice it. ---
