Movies where the protagonist dies at the end. (Preferably older movies since there could be spoilers.) 1. John Dies at the End But… John is not the protagonist, he’s the sidekick. And both David and John are alive at the end. ---

Okay, I cheated a bit…but I thought of the topic and then the movie instantly sprang to mind in a meta way. (He technically dies at the beginning, but I’ll say no more to not spoil the book/movie. And you’re right, he’s not really the protagonist even if he is the titular character.) ---
