The movie opened aboard the R/V _Keldysh_ in 1995, and ‘old Rose’ was supposed to be 100 years old when she was brought onboard. Then, when she started telling her story, the film flashed back 83 years earlier to 1912 when she was a young girl of 17. _ **-“BB”-** _ ---

Dolores Claiborne Not long in distance, but most of the movie is actually flashbacks to various times in two different people’s memories. Very little screen time is in the present. ---

Dreamchild Don’t know why I didn’t think of this one before. Predates _Titanic_ (the movie, twits); old woman boards a ship, from Britain for the US, and then most of the trip is spent in her reminiscences about her childhood. People call her “Mrs. Hargreaves,” but as a child she was Alice Liddell, whose name Charles Dodgson (brilliantly played by Ian Holm) borrowed for his books. ---
