**Movies with a remake that wasn’t as good**

1. Seven Chances(silent, Keaton) The Bachelor(talky, O’Donnell)
2. Spider-Man (Raimi); The Amazing Spider-Man (Webb)
3. Flight of the Phoenix (1965) / Flight of the Phoenix (2004)
4. Psycho (Hitchcock); Psycho (Van Sant)
5. The Wicker Man (1973); The Wicker Man (2006)
6. Rollerball (1975); Rollerball (2002)
7. The Ladykillers (1955 and 2004)

Sorry **Knoodler** , but I don’t think it belonged on the recent “Tied” list _at all_. 🙂

I’ve seen neither, but have read that the American remake of the Dutch original very much suffers by comparison (including having a tacked-on happy ending).

Stop making bad remakes!

**Remakes where the story was changed dramatically**

1. Insomnia - Probably not the best example, but much like the aforementioned _The Vanishing_, the Norwegian version was darker, bleaker and Skarsgård’s detective was less sympathetic than Pacino’s.

The dead wife appears as one of the 12 captive ghosts, who are imprisoned and unable to roam freely, as the ghosts in the original could. Also the house maid is replaced by a outsider ghost hunter, who seeks the treasure along with the lawyer/executor.
