"I hate banks. They do nothing positive for anybody except take care of themselves. They’re first in with their fees and first out when there’s trouble. "

A whole bunch of elements are solid and can have crystalline structures at room temperature. Think of carbon, silicon and a whole bunch of metallic elements.

I see someone there tries to answer the **Apollo 13** nitpick I cited by saying that the astronauts were important enough that Lovell could have wangled an advance copy of the Beatles LP from the record company for his daughter. In the first place, there’s no way the finished, packaged album could exist on April 11–Phil Spector was still mixing the tapes as late as April 2. But more interestingly, it’s one theme of the movie that the public _didn’t_ perceive the astronauts as being such a big deal anymore, hence the lack of television coverage of the mission until the possibility of disaster made it newsworthy.

It’s a reference to an exchange from _The Simpsons_.

Marge: Do you want your son to become Chief Justice of the Supreme Court or a sleazy male stripper?
Homer: Can’t he be both, like the late Earl Warren?
Marge: Earl Warren wasn’t a stripper!
Homer: Now, who’s being naïve?

My brother and I went to see **War of the Worlds** and he had a problem with the fact that, at the end of the movie, the army guys were firing multiple rounds from single-round RPG’s. Or something like that. Myself, I’m not too sure what an RPG _is_, but according to my brother, they were using them wrong. I explained to him that “They don’t have to show the guys reloading the things, you know.”

I presume you’ve never operated a BBS? Modems do what you configure them to do, and it’s quite possible to make a modem behave the way you describe.

> In a few scenes, she’s wearing one dress, and when she turns around, or the next scene, it’s a different dress, though not enogh time has gone by to explain how or why she changed dresses!

If we’re discussing wardrobe malfunctions, let’s think about Glenn Close in _Jagged Edge_. Her wardrobe changes several times during her opening statement.

However, when discussing Angelina Jolie films, let’s not forget _Double Jeopardy_, where she’s convicted of killing her husband, only to find out that he faked his death. When she finds out, she ends up killing him, citing the “double jeopardy” clause to explain that she can’t be tried for the crime again. Let me let IMDB explain it:

> [@](#):
>
> Double jeopardy does not work in the way described in the film. The same jurisdiction can not put you on trial for the exact same crime under the exact same law, but other jurisdictions can if you also violate the law there during the commission of your crime. The killing of the husband, had it been murder, would have been a second crime committed in another jurisdiction (moreover, it would have been a second, distinct crime). She could have been put on trial and sent back to prison (though presumably the original sentence would have been cancelled)[…]criminal charges and indictments are specific to time and place. The only way a someone with a false murder conviction would get a “free shot” at the “victim” would be to bring him or her to the original spot – then time-travel to the time of the alledged killing in the charge.

In other words, Jolie’d be right back in jail for the crime.

> In one movie, (Can’t remember the name) Ben Affleck is running around after a nuclear blast, or some other kind of gas is released, and he’s wearing a SWEATER, and jeans. There are guys in those hasmat suit, and they are dying, though our hero BEN is just covering his nose and mouth with his sleeve!!!

I think you’re thinking of _Sum of All Fears_ where a nuclear warhead is detonated in Baltimore during the Super Bowl. The movie comes BEFORE _Patriot Games_ and _Clear and Present Danger_. Where several scenes take place in DC, yet no mention of an American city having a nuke detonated in it. In fact, trailers for _Patriot Games_ (I think it’s that one) say that there’s never been a terrorist attack on US soil.

A nitpick in a nitpicking threat: Ashley Judd was in **Double Jeopardy** , not Angelina Jolie.

I’m sure everyone from NYC noticed this one, but in **Down with Love** the UN Building is shown as being across the street from Grand Central Terminal.

But geography is never a filmmaker’s strong point. Take **The Day After Tomorrow** (I know – attacking the film for inaccuarcies is killing an ant with an atomic bomb – you can’t miss. But Emmerich admitted he was making up the science for the story, not that he was playing with the geography, too). The giant killer tidal wave that innundates NYC has to have originated in central New Jersey. The shot of it hitting Manhattan shows that Brooklyn (and evidently all of Long Island) does not exist.

Later, the giant super duper killer storm is bearing down on Manhattan from the north (this is firmly established by the plot). The hero is holed out in the NY Public Library. When the storm hits, it first strikes the Empire State Building, which is south of the Public Library.

Evidently, Manhattan is on a turntable.

In the original _Wayne’s World_, when Wayne and Garth are standing outside of the Alice Cooper concert, the security guard (Chris Farley) says that Frankie Sharp, the record producer, is looking for talent, and that he’s going back through Chicago on his way to Detroit.

Later, when they come up with the idea of beaming Cassandra’s show into his limo, Garth says, “Remember what the security guard told us outside the Alice Cooper concert? He said that Mister Big [Sharpe] was coming back through Chicago _on Friday_…”

But the guard NEVER said that. He _did_ say that Sharpe was coming back through Chicago, but NEVER said when.

In _Titanic_, Brock Lovett comments that if the diamond worn by Louis XIV were still around, “it would be worth more than the Hope Diamond.” Most experts believe that the Hope Diamond and Louis XIV’s blue diamond are one and the same.

The fourth funnel was a dummy, but you can still see smoke. (It was used as a vent for the kitchen stoves).
