Mostly.
Oooh, some good ones in here I am going to try out. Totally forgot about Apollo 13, The Mummy, wargames, school of rock, avatar, MIB. I’ll probably add Hook too
I would love to show Top Gun, but I think the totally awesome sex scene that I really appreciated as a kid is too much right now for the youngers. Beastmaster has one similar scene (which I also appreciated as a kid)
They did watch Roger Rabbit, Princess Bride, Night at the Museum which they all liked.
They’re kind of silly, but your children might enjoy the National Treasure movies (the ones starring Nicholas Cage). And if they liked The Princess Bride, they might enjoy Stardust (based on a novel by Neil Gaiman) or Time Bandits. (My brother discouraged me from showing his kids that one because he thought they’d have trouble with the British accents.)
A secular website for parents which explains, sometimes in pedantic detail, elements which may be objectional. A great resource!
From a glance at the site linked above: My Cousin Vinny.
Well, my mom took me to the theater to see The Blue Lagoon when I was 5 and I turned out…uh…well…I’m not in jail…yet.
True, but they got the highlights.
Bone, if it wouldn’t bore the wee ones to death, you might direct them here, and go over it some with them, because in some ways, the real event was even more spectacular than the movie; just not in ways most kids would grasp.
My mom took me to see Alien when I was 12, because she thought it was going to be like Star Wars.
She jumped 10-shrieking-feet  straight up in the air when the face-hugger attacked Kane, and bolted out of the theater when the chest-buster came out at the dinner table.
I turned out just fine. Heh. Hehheh.
Great suggestion!
Sneakers (1992; River Phoenix is one of the leads.)
I started making a list from this thread, but I didn’t include Ferris Bueller I think I’ll save that for when they are teenagers.
OOOh, Sneakers!
Howl’s Moving Castle is good, but I feel Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind and Lupin III and the Castle of Cagliostro are better.
