The end of \<i\>Imitation of Life\</i\> makes me bawl. It always makes me feel guilty. Not that I was ever as awful to my mom as Sarah Jane was, but still, if I’m watching it anywhere near my mom, I have to go give her a hug.

I am a gigantic wuss. I cry at movies all the time, but there are very few movies I will cry when I see them a second time. The all time winners in that category:

_Schindler’s List_: From the moment they give him the ring until the about midway through the end credits, I am pretty much inconsolable.

_The Green Mile_: Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong ending. Bad Steven King. That isn’t what really happens. No, no, no. Boo.

Heh, heh, heh. Yeah, because Stephen King is known for his happy endings, right? _snort_ _snicker_

Thanks, you just brought joy to my day. 😃

Gah. I how could I have forgoten about _Imitation of Life_, clearly the saddest movie ever made?

_Dumbo._ When he goes to see his mom and she’s chained up, and then that damn beautiful sad song comes in and you see all the other, mean little circus babies with thier mommies, and Dumbo only gets to hug Jumbo’s trunk, I lose it. Lose it. Just hearing that song makes me cry. I’m getting all weepy just thinking about it.

There are many others, but this one gets me like no other. _sniff_

I am such a cretin for admitting this but…

Sister Act II Back in the Habit
The scene where they win the championship. It’s a bad movie, and manipulative as hell, but I cry each time I see that scene…

Hides head in shame ☹

Have any of you guys seen _Life as a House_ with Kevin Kline?

MOST. MANIPULATIVE. MOVIE. EVER!

You find out almost right away that he has inoperable cancer, so I’m sure I’m not giving anything away by saying he dies in the end, so you cry and cry and cry, but then the VERY end has to stick in this little extra SUPER SAD and TOUCHING bit that’s just like a knife in your heart and you don’t know how you’re ever going to go on with your life, you’re so damn sad. Cripes. I cried so long and hard I had a headache for the rest of the day.

Agree about **The Color Purple** …several parts make me cry, but the ending gets me to sobbing uncontrollably EVERY TIME.

Another one that sneaks up on me is **Fried Green Tomatoes**. Even a couple scenes with Kathy Bates and Jessica Tandy will get me…like the scene where Kathy Bates thinks Jessica has died and she cries, “She was my friend, and I loved her!” Damn, that one gets to me. Then of course what happens to Ruth sends me over the edge even on days where crying is the furthest thing from my mind.

To join an emerging chorus, _Schindler’s List_ is literally the only film I’ve ever seen that moves me to tears and somehow it does it every time. Even when I just see the end. It’s partly the cleverness of his farewell speech - it seems almost tasteless to reduce actual victims to might-have-been cash, but it skewers something about the character, so you realise the way he used his limitations for the greater good in a way that’s profoundly moving and challenging - yet it’s the avenue of gravestones that ultimately invariably gets to me.

**Last of the Mohicans** (Michael Mann version) It’s a hard movie to finish.

**Fellowship of the Ring** - the bit right after Khazad-dum.

**The Untouchables** (Brian De Palma version) - Malone.

I think most of mine have already been mentioned, but to list them:

_The Miracle Worker_–The scene at the pump when Helen has her breakthrough.

_The Joy Luck Club_–I can sometimes get through the scene where the mother leaves her twin babies under the tree, but always cry at the end, when the American-born daughter meets her two sisters and tells them their mother has died… oh, hell, I’m choking up now just thinking about it.

_Field of Dreams_–For years, I was guaranteed at least to mist up when Ray realizes who the catcher is (“No, Ray, it was for you”), but I seem to have gotten past that one.

_Life is Beautiful_ and _Tea with Mussolini_ have taught me that I am a sucker for great, big Allied tanks rolling into Italy near the end of WWII.

There are two scenes in **Glory** that get me (in addition to **MonkeyMensch’s** contribution:[ul]
[li]When Shaw comes out for parade the morning after reading the declaration from the Confederate Congress, and sees that the entire regiment-including Major Forbes-is still there.[/li][li]The aftermath of the assault, when the black soldier (try as I might, I can’t say positively whether it’s Trip) slides down and nestles against Shaw. For some reason, the impression I get is of a father sleeping with a baby.[/li][/ul]
And now for my own addition: the end of **Shakespeare in Love**. From the moment when the end (main?) title music starts, I’m a goner.

Two scenes always get to me in Transformers: The Movie. The first one is when Optimus Prime buys it. Always brings a tear to my eye.

The second scene is where Hot Rod gets the Matrix and starts to morph into Rodimus Prime. When I hear Optimus’ voice in the background saying, “Arise Rodimus Prime.”, I always break down.
