I don’t even remember it. And I’m sure in a few years you’ll have forgotten about it too.

I actually really liked the movie. I have it on DVD and I’ve watched it a number of times while on the treadmill. There are a lot of ridiculous moments in it. The wolves are completely unrealistic and the Alaska Liam inhabits with them is also unrecognizable. It’s like the whole thing is a fantasy.

I realized then, that it was a fantasy, specifically a fever dream. If you watch carefully, it becomes pretty obvious from the short cut scenes that it is not Liam’s wife who is in bed, dying of cancer, it is Liam.

Liam is a in a purgatory of chemotherapy, waiting to die. “The Grey” is a synonym for purgatory. Once you get this, the rest of it starts to make sense.

The film is really about dying of cancer.

Hmm. Or about dying by minutes. Of wasted time.

But your take is interesting… It would explain a lot of the stupid in that film.

No such thing as a “Alpha wolf” anyway, and wolves rarely attack humans and almost never without provocation.

I’ve been thinking of this post all day, since watching the movie.

Fucking Brilliant. You, Sir, deserve some kind of award.

Cancer is a cunt. Much like a wolf, stalks you and attacks you when you are most venerable.

Well done.

My dogs still hated it! (all the howling)

C’mon, people, it’s not a documentary about wolves, or an action film. It’s a treatise on mortality, and man’s place in nature. At that, it succeeds; it achieves exactly what it is trying to do.

…and just like life, it is boring.
