Movies Based on True-Life: Loosely or Factual

That does it. If I ever accidentally meet Michael Bay, I’m going to remind him of that story and then kick him right in his tiny balls.

Razorette and I just watched “The Queen” on video. I enjoyed it because I got a sense of what being around Queen Elizabeth is like. It’s as if the public had asked, “What’s it like being around the Queen of England?” and the director said, “Well, it’s very much like this.” I got the same feeling from “Titanic”, “Saving Private Ryan”, “In Cold Blood” and other history-based movies I’ve seen. That didn’t happen, exactly, but that’s very much what it was like to be there.

The only problem is when the vast majority of innocent Americans takes something like Oliver Stone’s “JFK” and assigns it credibility it doesn’t deserve. And Stone doesn’t have the class to tell people, “Look, folks, it’s just a movie.”

“Taxi Driver” was inspired by the real life story of Arthur Bremer.
