The Cable Guy! I’m proud I like this… I love the Medival times scenes and it is one of the few Carey movies I like. You can have your Masks and Ace Venturas… Personally I loved his creepy Skip. Death to Smoochy. I like my comedy black and thought this was quite funny. I could even stand Robin Williams despite himself. God help me but I even liked Starship Troopers. People melting and fighting Big bugs… And When did people start hating Romero films?! Land of the Dead was brilliant! ---

I found it hypnotic from the opening shot to the final frame, and was mystified that so many people hated it. The sequence in the church, when Kip lifts Hana up on a rope swing so she can see the frescos…one of the most beautiful scenes ever filmed. I also couldn’t understand the general panning of _King Arthur_. Yes, the history was laughable, but that hasn’t stopped plenty of other movies from being well-received. In fact, if one were simply to change the names of the characters and dispense with the “true story behind the legend” bullshit, I’d call it a pretty damned good movie. I wanted to like _The Fifth Element_, I really did. But every frame that included Chris Tucker (and there were _far, far_ too many of them) shoved it just that much further beyond the point of redemption. ---

Even then, you might as well watch the movie for the awesome soundtrack. The Klendathu landing theme is one of my favorite military songs of all time. 😃 ---

I’ve seen some bad things said about [Crossroads](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090888/) but how can you not love that movie? Of course I am not talking about the Brittney Spears movie. This is the Ralph Macchio as a bluesman movie. Maybe the best soundtrack ever. Seems like a straight-up road/buddy movie then it takes a sudden strange turn when they get to the crossroads. Two things that should make you watch this. Ry Cooder and Steve Vai. Joe Morton is as good as always. Someone mentioned _Let it Ride_. I don’t know how this movie is universially thought of but I love it. If you are a gambler I’m not sure how you can not like this movie. ---

Thank you, Jeebus! I thought I was the only one who liked all those movies. My wife rolls her eyes every time I find one on TV or cable. TrueLies – I mean how can you go wrong with the Jamie Leigh Curtis striptease. Fifth Element – Cheesy, idiotic but pretty good visuals Starship Troopers – giant alien bugs literally ripping people apart. Too cool. Let it Ride – who wouldn’t want a day like that? 1941 – John Belushi was incredible Joe vs the Volcano – love looking for the lightning symbol repeated throughout the movie. Other favorites: Buckeroo Banzai – I rented this for my son and he walked out of the room after 5 minutes saying that he had never seen anything so idiotic. This from a kid who loves some of the stupidest anime shown on Cartoon Network. Remo Williams – what a dumb movie but I have to watch it every time it’s on. Howard the Duck – I know I’m going to get slammed here but I watch it just to laugh at how stupid it was. Also the female duck in the tub had breasts and makes me wonder, “If mammals have mammaries, do birds have aviaries?” ---

My roommate _hates_ me for this movie (which I own on DVD, along with _The Pirate Movie_ and _Strange Brew_, two other gems she hates me for). I’ll also pile on to the love for _1941, A Knight’s Tale, Johnny Dangerously, The Island_, Buckaroo Banzai, Remo Williams, and probably a lot more I don’t remember right now. I’ll add _Hudson Hawk_, which is comedic brilliance, in my mind, and _Sahara_, which is just plain fun. ---

I liked **Star Trek the Motion Picture** too. The soundtrack is especially wonderful. Actually, it’s better than the movie, which still isn’t all that bad. Another hand up for **The Bubble Boy**. ---

[/QUOTE] Jeepers! I actually _made_ a friend by mentioning the movie **Hysterical**! Now there’s something I genuinely never thought would happen. Heck, I had no idea **Hysterical** was even out in DVD format! That’s great to know; I’ve been nursing along my old VHS copy all this time. So logically, then, that would mean at least one other person besides you and me has seen this movie, unless you yourself are somehow responsible for its DVD release.
