How many movies can you think of in which REAL parents and children play the roles of parents and children? Examples I can think of: 1. Henry Fonda played Jane FOnda’s father in “On Golden Pond.” 2. Sylvester Stallone played Sage Stallone’s dad in “Rocky 5.” 3. Kirk Douglas plays Michael Douglas’ dad in a movie out right now (the title eludes me). How many other examples can you think of? Only movies in which the parent and child APPEAR as parent and child are wanted (if, say, John Huston had a cameo in a movie with Anjelica, but he wasn’t playing her father, it doesn’t count). ---

I think Clint Eastwood played in a film with his son, but the film was so bad I don’t recall the name. ---

On the _Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet_ television series, Ozzie and Harriet Nelson’s own children David and Ricky played themselves. The little girl with Tilda Swinton in the last scenes of _Orlando_ was her own daughter. Alan Alda’s daughters Elizabeth and Beatrice played his (and Carol Burnett’s) daughters in _The Four Seasons_. Beatrice was back with her father in _A New Life_, but I don’t recall if they played father-daughter. John Mills and Hayley Mills played father and daughter in _The Truth About Spring_. John Mills played Hayley’s father-in-law in _The Family Way_. Liza Minnelli made her movie debut as Judy Garland and Van Johnson’s daughter in the final scene of _In the Good Old Summertime_. ---

TV rather than movie, but: The first episode of the 90s version of The Outer Limits (The Sandkings, a rather lacking adaptation of a fine story) features Lloyd Bridges, Beau Bridges, and Beau’s son Dylan as father, son, and grandson. ---

Abigail Hopkins appeared with her father, Anthony Hopkins, in **Shadowlands** , even though it was a brief part as a nurse. She also had a bit part as a nursemaid in **Remains of the Day**. ---

There was John and Patrick Wayne in _Big Jake_, and Lloyd Bridges played a parental unit twice to Jeff - Once _Meeting Daddy_ and the other time in a TV move _Secret Sins of the Father_. I think Lloyd Bridges appeared in at least three films with son Beau but never as a parent, but Beau and Jeff did appear as brothers in _The Fabulous Baker Brothers_. At least I think that was the title. TV ---

Ryan and Tatum O’Neal starred in _Paper Moon_, albeit not as father and daughter. Tatum’s character was orphaned and traveled with Ryan as a swindling duo, so I guess it can somewhat count. Trivia: Paul Newman and his real-life daughter were set to star in the movie at first. ---

Demi Moore and Rumor Willis played mother and daughter in the horrific film **Striptease**. I believe her other two daughters, Tallulah and Scout appeared in a film with dad Bruce Willis called **Bandits**. ---

Sean Astin’s daughter will be playing Elanor Gamgee in _Return of the King_. Can’t remember her name, though. (Peter Jackson’s kids and Viggo’s son Henry also show up in the films, but not as offspring, so I think they don’t count.) ---
