And what about Bret McKenzie from Flight of the Conchords? He made a lovely non-singing elf as Lindir aka “Figwit” in LOTR and The Hobbit. ---

Coolio has been in a bunch of stuff where he doesn’t do any singing. My favorite was **Batman and Robin** , a movie so fucking intellectually bankrupt that they didn’t even have him play one of Mr. Freeze’s henchman. ---

Another one for ellen Foley is “married To The Mob” as one of the mob wives. Too bad you’re not asking for TV shows, in this case _Gilmore Girls_. Carole King had a recurring role as Sophie the owner of the music store, and Sebastian Bach as the guitarist for the band Hep Alien. He did sing on an episode or two, but never a full song, and his non-singing screen time \>\>\> than when he was singing. ---

Chris Isaak again. I thought he did a lovely understated job in “Little Buddah” as the father. He also was “Uncle Bob” in “That Thing You Do”. He recorded and cut the band’s first single before handing them off to a talent scout. Mos Def played Ford Prefect in the 2005 “Hitchhikers Guide” movie. ---

I don’t know if it was John Wayne himself or the producers, but somebody must have thought that having young male singers in the cast would attract teenage girls, so several of his westerns found supporting roles for the likes of Bobby Vinton and Ricky Nelson, along with more mature singers like Dean Martin and Glenn Campbell. ---
