**The Bodyguard** was a relatively forgettable romance-suspense film, but everyone remembers Whitney’s singing.

> ACDC’s album **Who Made Who** is the soundtrack for the Stephen King Film **Maximum Overdrive**. While it was a compilation, a few new tracks (including the Top 40 hit title song) were recorded, and older forgotten tracks were rediscovered/rescued from previous forgotten albums.

Mentioned above. 🙂

**Dangerous Minds**?

Chariots of Fire won the Oscar for Best Picture in 1982. I haven’t seen it either but I don’t consider that means it wasn’t memorable.

(Making note to get Chariots of Fire out of the public library.)

Stole mine.
So I’ll add Hackers, even though I still have a soft spot for it and Mathew Lillard.

Mentioned in a previous thread as examples of fairly execrable movies with very good soundtracks:

_Heavy Metal_
_La Bamba_

😕 The movie box office was over $750 million, and not because of the soundtrack.

“Repo Man” doesn’t count as it is both an excellent movie and excellent soundtrack.
I really enjoyed Stewart Copeland’s soundtrack to “Rumble Fish”, but to be honest I’ve never seen the movie so I can’t say if it was any good or not.

_[Children of Sanchez](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077326/?ref_=nv_sr_1?ref_=nv_sr_1)_ – the Chuck Mangione theme got lot of radio play, enough such that I bought the soundtrack–but I never have seen or heard any mention of the movie.

> [Sunshine on Leith](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunshine_on_Leith_(album)) was released in 1988, five years before [Benny & Joon](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106387/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1). That was an example of a movie using an existing popular song. Not that that would make it wrong or off-topic for the thread or anything. Just sayin’.

Well, an example of a movie making an existing song popular. The song may have existed 5 years prior to the movie, but the movie made it a “one hit wonder”. The video for the song is full of clips from the movie, anyway.

I don’t think the Cocktail soundtrack has been mentioned. I never saw the movie, but I had the cassette. Don’t Worry Be Happy (Bobby McFerrin), Rave On (Mellencamp version), Hippy Hippy Shake (probably a cover but the Georgia Satellites version), Kokomo (Beach Boys).
