Oh, there’s one line my family uses constantly from "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The In the movie, David Seville is in traction in a hospital. Alvin causes Dave immense pain, then says, “I’ll fix it Dave!” A moment later, he chirps in his high squeaky voice… “Nope! Made it worse!” At least once a week, my wife, my son or myself will try to fix something, then squeak, “Nope, made it worse.” ---

I’ve got one: “I’m on the list. I’m always on the list.” John Goodman in _Flight_. Definitely the only lines I even remember from that. Which leads to other Goodman quotes. Getting, inevitably, to “You want a toe? I can get you a toe, …” ---

One just happened in my household. My wife handed me my pocketknife for a task, and said “Here’s your knife.” Naturally, I replied in the thickest attempt at an Australian accent I could muster: “That’s not a knife. THAT’S a knife!” ``` -- *Crocodile Dundee* ``` ---

Almost every line of dialogue in that film is either a perfect set-up, a perfect punch-line, or excellent follow-through. If you’re a daring soul, try reading the original novel sometime–then gasp in horror. (Forty-Second Street already?) ---

We’ve watched Blue Bloods through the current season even though its relentlessly righty slant and old-school “cops is always right, even when they’s wrong” tone grates occasionally. Tom Selleck just manages to keep delivering - I really hope to see him in a few more Jesse Stone movies and in cameos in the new Magnum. But the one line I’ve adopted is his infrequently repeated, “I’m the [del]Police Commissioner[/del] Dad. I know everything.” ---

The only line I quote from _Cast Away_ is Tom Hanks shouting I HAVE MADE FIRE! He sounds so elated and triumphant, even though Neanderthals had it down. So when I find myself struggling do something mundane, and then I succeed… ---
