I have a long summer vacation ahead of me, and plenty of evenings with which to watch movies with my friends. This is like **Loneraven** ’s thread, but not quite and I didn’t want to hijack it. I want to know what movies you guys can recommend that are so awful that they’re funny. Terrible effects, terrible dialoge, terrible plot, etc. Any sugestions?

I’ll start you with 2:

Commando (just a silly movie, but great fun)
[Armstrong](http://us.imdb.com/Title?0139029) (this movie is reaaallly bad, so bad its hilarious!)

btw, the only reason I watched Armstrong was because that is my name, and I was bored and curious!

This very afternoon I watched [Most Wanted](http://us.imdb.com/Title?0119709), a movie I had never heard of. Now I know why. I was having fun trying to tally every stupid thing that was appearing before my eyes, but they eventually came so fast I lost count.

My favorite: the baddies have set a bomb in Jill Hennesy’s house. Our hero, Keenan Ivory-Wayans (seriously) notes dog food on the floor, finds out Jill doesn’t own a dog, and immediately figures out it’s a bomb (he spouts some chemical mumbo-jumbo to that effect). He then looks over to the microwave – which he is standing right next to – which is counting down. It’s at about 0:25. Keenan yells at Jill to run, and they escape the house right before it blows up.

Yes, they ran. Even though our hero was standing RIGHT NEXT TO THE MICROWAVE. Hey Keenan – PRESS THE DAMN “CANCEL” BUTTON. That way you WON’T HAVE TO RUN, and you WON’T RISK BEING BLOWN TO BITS.

Nothing in this movie made sense. It might well have made less sense than _Mission: Impossible_, and that’s quite a feat.

And since Hollywood can’t handle interracial romance, we don’t even get to see Jill Hennesy naked. So this one loses on all counts.

[Fist of Fear, Touch of Death](http://us.imdb.com/Title?0080741) It’s titled either one or the other, but it is a gold mine of horrible flim making. Its has got to be the **most awful** movie I have ever seen (and I have seen a lot of fucking bad movies).

The sheer stench of it can only be matched by how much it (strangly) entertined me. It had me laughing NONSTOP for the entire length of it. I had such a good time watching this awful, awful, movie I almost died from laughter.

This is the stuff “Mystery Science theater 3000” was made from.

There’s a live-action made-for-TV giant robot movie called _G-Saviour_ that’s pretty funny, mostly unintentionally.

I mean, an actor named Hrothgar Mathews plays a character named Phillippe San Simione who works for the Illuminati. It doesn’t get much sillier than that . . .

John Carpenter’s _Assault on Precinct 13_ defines the word “schlock.” Low budget, bad dialogue, bad acting and excessive violence. Ya gotta love it!

I was going to say _Eraserhead,_ because watching it is not what you would call an enjoyable experience, but if you have watched it you will never forget it . . . but that’s not the kind of “so bad it’s good” you were asking about, is it?

The classic is “Plan 9 from Outer Space”, also with honourable mentions:

- Battlefield Earth
- Any 70’s Kung Fu movie
- Bad Taste and Braindead (Peter Jackson’s eariler stuff)

Rutger Hauer has a bunch of ‘so bad they’re good’ films.

_Wedlock_ (aka Deadlock)
_A Breed Apart_
_Blind Fury_
_Blood of Heroes_ (aka Salute of the Jugger)
Christopher Walken also has some prime cheese under his belt.

_McBain_: Construction worker and Vietnam vet blows up a Central American country. _Commando_ with sterioids.
_Wild Side_: Walken sodomizes Steven Bauer to prove a point, and Joan Chen does a lesbian scene with Anne Heche.
_The Prophecy_
_The Addiction_

Sorry. Commando _without_ the steroids. Or Rae Dawn Chong, for that matter.

Oh, sorry for that **samarm**. It’s “so bad its good” if you consider it to be a traditional horror movie, but “so cool its good” if you treat it as a comedy/spoof/zombie/slasher flick 😉

Arguably, **Kung-Pow**. Somehow while watching it I didn’t get the feeling I was laughing at the jokes because they were funny but because they were ridiculous. We have to assume that wasn’t the intention.

Plan Nine From Outer Space is almost legendary now. And Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is really a parody anyway. There was a book around in the seventies (I still have my copy) called The Fifty Worst Movies Of All Time. It is a hoot.
