More than twice. “She Loves Me”, a Broadway play, was eventually made into a movie; and “She Loves Me” is “Little Shop Around the Corner” / “You’ve Got Mail” once again.

On that note, **Hello Dolly** was first brought to screen as a non-musical “[The Matchmaker](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Matchmaker_(1958_film))” in 1958.

Interesting cast. Shirley Booth of Hazel fame as Dolly.
Young Anthony Perkins and Shirley MacLaine as Cornelius and Irene respectively.

Robert Morse was Barnaby, best known as the star of [How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061791/?ref_=nm_knf_t_1) and Mad Men as the senior owner. And a lot of Broadway plays.

First off:

_Soy Leyenda_ (1967) is a fourth version of _I am Legend_ told in a compact 45 minutes

_The Black Bird_ (1975) is a sequel to _The Maltese Falcon_, not a remake.

Adding to the _Yojimbo_ remake chain: _The Warrior and the Sorceress_ (1984)

Other retitled remakes:

_M_ (1931) was remade as _El Vampiro Negro_ (1953)

_The Murderer Lives at Number 21_ (1942) was remade as _La muerte camina bajo la Lluvia_ _(Death Walks in the Rain_) (1948)

_The Big Clock_ was first remade as _Police Python 357_ (1976)

_Rashomon_ (1950) was remade as _The Outrage_ (1964) and _Misty_ (1996)

_Point Blank_ (1967) was remade as _Payback_ (1999)

I would call _Barb Wire_ (1996) a remake of _Casablanca_, but IMDB claims it is only “spoofed extensively.”

A German film from the 30’s, _Viktor und Victoria_ was remade in the US as _Victor/Victoria_.

A silent film with Buster Keaton, Seven Chances, was remade with Chris O’Donnell as _The Bachelor_. I think the original is one of the funniest movies I ever saw, the remake is meh.

_Throne of Blood_ is a samurai version of _Macbeth_.

_Ran_ is a samurai version of _King Lear_.

_King of Texas_ is King Lear, set in the Wild West.

_Prospero’s Books_ is _The Tempest_, with John Gielgud, awesome SFX, and a lot of naked people running around in the background.

_Infernal Affairs_ remade as _The Departed_

_Goldfinger_ remade as _A View to a Kill_

Ok the second one might be pushing it but they do both contain a villain who wants to increase the value of their stock by destroying the main supply (gold or microchips), and include a scene where a character is disposed of after wishing to be excluded from the dastardly scheme.
