Apologies–several of these had already been mentioned…
Megamind
I just want to go on record as saying I hate it when the first scene is the end of the story, not just in movies but in books aswell.
It seems to make the story all a bit pointless, as in an anti climax, also you know that the narrator made it through the action.
I really, really wish that writers wouldn’t do this in any medium.
The Hangover
Apologies, I did a search to see if my question was already answered, but didn’t see that pop up.
Carlito’s Way
Just my 2¢ for one that immediately comes to mind…
Vanishing Point, 1971 starring Barry Newman (later of TV’s Petrocelli fame), about a car delivery driver who takes a 1970 Dodge Challenger on a hi-speed run from Denver to San Fran as the cops of the various states try to stop him. The movie begins with him driving full tilt toward a bulldozer blocking the road, and just before he smashes into it, the car fades out, and the movie switches to three days earlier.
Apparently there was a 1997 TV remake with Viggo Mortensen with a modification of plot that seemed to have dampened the premise.
Can you explain this? I had sort of an inkling of familiarity, but by that time I had forgotten the beginning. That would seem to destroy the happy ending wouldn’t it?
