Note that the protagonist was a real person. He was not synesthetic, although I have read a couple of blog items from people with synesthesia who said that the sequence in the movie accurately depicts what they experience.

I can’t imagine I’m the only person who initially thought this was referring to 28 Days Later.

Well, technically both films would be appropriate for this forum.

There is a recent (2007) BBC tv movie called Recovery starring David Tennant dealing with the rehabilitation of a man recovering from brain injury. It was fairly realistic. One of the reviews in the linked Wiki article calls it “the best thing Tennant’s ever done.”
