Movies that you didn't grow out of

I’ll second that.

This concept of “growing out of movies” is foreign to me. My DVD collection contains The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, The Wizard of Oz, Shrek, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Robin Hood, Ice Age, Toy Story and more, and significantly pre-dates any actual children living in my household.

Not a kids movie, but a movie I watched alot between the ages of 10-14 was All of Me with Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin. We watched it again Friday night, hadn’t seen it for a long, long time but it still was great. I love that movie!

Well if we’re going into movies that weren’t really made for kids, I’m going to mention War of the Worlds, the one from the 50’s. I first watched it when I was 6 or 7 and while a little scared, I loved it. I bought the VHS a couple of years later and did a report on the book in middle school.

Disney’s The Black Hole.

I was a weird kid; I’m still a weird adult.

(Hey, think of it as WALL-E…if that movie were middle-aged, had clinical depression, and a quietly grim, Hobbes-like outlook on humanity. Smiles!

Thirded.

Man, you guys are young!

I was a kid in the 50s, and every Sunday I went to the movies with my best friend. This was when all those 50s sci-fi movies were coming out, and for 25 cents we saw a double feature plus cartoons. I still love all those movies, though they’re not quite as scary now.

I also saw this when I was about 13 or so, and I really enjoyed it then…

I will have to try and watch it again to see how it holds up!

The NeverEnding Story

I watch that movie at least once a year, because, like the book itself (within the story), it draws me in every time.
