Event Horizon was a wonderfully scary movie until the last act when it turned into Jason in outer space.

I’ll always stop to watch the amazing opening car chase in _Mad Max_. Then I usually change channels. To me, the rest of the movie is kinda meh until Toecutter’s gang runs down Max’s family.
I find the first 20 minutes or so of the original _When a Stranger Calls_ to be a classic of suspense film making. Even knowing the twist, it’s still an unnerving bit with mostly just Carol Kane and a phone prop. If it had ended with the big reveal upstairs it could have fit into an horror anthology movie just fine. Unfortunately, it was a padded out to a standalone feature, and instead the movie jumps ahead 10 years (oooh the killer escaped jail) and drags on for another hour.
I’ve only seen one part of _The Brown Bunny_, which I enjoyed, but I’ve never had any interest in seeing the rest 😃 (or should that be :o?)

Agreed. _Event Horizon_ may be tied with _Prometheus_ for “most egregious waste of a premise-and-created-universe in big-budget movies.”
(The only parts of _Prometheus_ I like are…well, I kind of like the idea of that room in the ‘lifeboat’ that is the Charlize Theron character’s quarters–the one with the ‘virtual surround’ that you can apparently change to be a snowscape or a beach scene or whatever. So when in the movie that room is shown, I kind of like that scene. And I like the walk that Michael Fassbender developed for his character–it’s kind of funny. When he shoots baskets from his circling bicycle, that’s kind of interesting.
(But that would be “it” as far as Parts I Like in _Prometheus_.)

I know I will get killed for saying this, but the only real memorable parts of the LOTR series was the CGI guy. He was creepy and sad, the rest, a big ol meh.

_Step Brothers_ had a couple of scenes that displayed a brother’s obsession with Vanilla Ice and “Ice Ice Baby.” The rest of the movie was total crap.

Watched Man of Steel last night. First half was very promising and had some interesting takes on the story. Second half just went downhill and ended in a Transformers type non stop grueling action CGI scene with no moving the story forward or interesting development.
I turned it off.

_Anchorman: Ron Burgundy_. I wouldn’t care if I ever saw that movie again. I find it kind of trite – just Will Ferrell trying out some new stuff.
But the gang fight scene cracks me up every time.

The first part of _Overboard_ with Goldie on the yacht and then when she first ends up at Kurt Russell’s hovel. In other words, as long as she’s in rich bitch mode. The rest of the film is kind of cute, but I usually tune out once she starts transforming into hillbilly mother mode.
The scenes at Mike Myers parents’ home in _So I Married an Ax Murderer_. If I know it’s already past that part (parrrrrt) I won’t even tune in.

Those scenes have a certain charm, but small doses of Alan Arkin are unbeatable.

**Some Like It Hot:** The specific scenes of the mobsters’ conversations (so “tongue-in-cheek”), and the birthday-cake scene where the mobster pops out of the cake firing a sub-machine gun. It’s not so much that the scene is in the movie at all, but that it is drawn out.The only part of the latter scene I liked was when the FBI agent came in, saw what had hapened, and growled, “Nobody leaves until I get the recipe!” As for the mobster’s other apppearances, they were unpleasant but necessary.
**The Hunchback of Notre-Dame** The scenes with Pierre Gringoire were pretty much useless and added nothing to the story line.
