Factoid: Do watch the PBS series _The Bletchley Circle_ – I highly recommend it! I’ve watched the whole thing about 5 times. [Rachael Martin](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0830556/?ref_=tt_cl_t1), who plays Millie, is Diana Rigg’s daughter. Also stunningly beautiful. ---

Everything on my DVR that has been sitting there, or “why don’t I have these on DVD/file?” Some I have seen before, and are “comfort” movies, or movies I have not seen in a long time. I watched\* The End of the World\*, a Danish silent film from 1916. A newly discovered comet threatens to wreck havoc on North-Western Europe. After a stock market crash, a rich mine owner buys up the market and then plants a story in the newspaper that everything will be fine. He sells when the stock market recovers. He has a big party on the day of destruction, but armed miners crash it as the town (miniature) is set ablaze by comet sparks and flooded. It was not very good – not up to Abel Gance’s 1931 movie of the same name and nearly identical plot – but the parallels to today’s headlines made it mildly interesting.
